We made a difference!
Ohio exceeded the national participation rate by four points and
was officially the sixth highest participating state in the county at 76%!
Additionally, efforts of the Ohio Complete Count Committee led to a number of significant accomplishments:
Succeeded in establishing the greatest number of Complete Count Committees, over 200, among the Census Bureau tri-state region of West Virginia, Michigan and Ohio;
Highlighted in a national media video as a Complete Count Committee best practice;
The only state that invited and hosted the Census Bureau director Robert Groves;
Reached out to representatives of over 8,000 Ohio organizations and agencies to
raise awareness about the Census; and
Shared the importance of mailing the 2010 Census back and speaking to census
takers through a two-month communication blitz from March to April 2010.
What now?
The state counts will be presented to the President late in December of 2010.
The Congress will receive the number in January 2011.
Local Counts of cities, villages and townships will be released late March 2011.
